How Does Marriage affect ownership of PropertyMichigan It is true that in Michigan the act of getting married Gives either the husband or wife ownership interest in assests that were owned by the other spouse before marriage. My financial instutation had me file a quick claim deed to add my spouse to my house. |

Thank YouThanks, I just really wanted to know if the bank was lying to me. They said Michigan used to be dowry state and now it has the same laws for both husbands and wifes. So the act of marriage gave my husband equal asset rights. |
