Hyphenate Name?

YOUR STATE NAME -

I live in Ma, wanted to know if i could hyphenate my daughters name when I get married - I will be married in 1.5 yrs - i was never married to bio father - but gave our daughter his last name - i have full legal custody - i know i would have to go through the courts for this - but what factors do they weigh in to decide - i know the bio father will be against this - but i would like her to share my married name as well - plus she will be put on stepfathers health insurance when the time comes - makes things diffacult when there are different last names....she has expressed that she would like to share my married name as well - she is 7 and the man i am marrying has been in her life since she was 3 - so she really cant remember a life without him....any feedback would be greatly appreciated....
