Question

I want to give my kid a NEW last name.

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Alabama

My husband and I are expecting a baby. Our last name is Dugger. The original family name is actually Daguerre. It was changed a few generations back. We want to put Daguerre on the birth certificate. We do not want to go through the hassle of changing our last names. We just want our kid to have the original, real family name. So can we put a last name other than our own on the birth certificate? Anyone?

Fred will not, however, be too thrilled with Mommy & Daddy once he's in school.

(though I suppose it'd be better than naming him Fred Fruitcake....)
