All States can retain jurisdiction over a moved child and parent, under the UCCJEA, when one of the parents still has ties to the originating State. Of course, the above rule is triggered only if the court attempting to modify the custody order has modification jurisdiction under the UCCJEA. Generally, that will be the state that issued the underlying custody order, unless all concerned parties have moved away or no longer have a "significant connection" with that State, or the rendering State has ceded its jurisdiction to another state as the "more convenient" forum.
