If marriage is legal in one state, is it legal in another

GA I don't think I am crazy, but can anyone be able to tell me that what I read somewhere on this www that say for instance: A common law marriage is formed in a state where it is legal and allowed, or was when it was formed in the state, is there something, that I cant remember what it was that states that even tho they later move to a state that does not allow common law marriages to be formed or it could have been 'that recognized common law marriages (arent the last 2 the same?), that because the marriage was legal in the state it was formed in, it also has to be recognized as being a legal marriage in the other states too. I am not talking about same sex-marriage. I cannot remember the term I saw for this.
Basically, does that mean if your marriage was legal in the state you entered into, no matter where you go, the state you are in has to recognize the marriage as legal too, even tho that state does not recognize the same marriages as being legal to enter into in their state? Legal in one or legal in all? What is the term for that, I think it was 'fair'
something. Please clairify.

Thanks

It is called Full Faith and Credit. And it does not apply to same sex marriages.
