What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Oregon-My question is if one spouse marries under an alias is the marriage legal? My husband has two identies-two names ( the middle name in one identity is the first name in the other, the last name is the same).He also has two ss#'s and two dates of birth ( day and month are the same,year is different). We married in vegas three years ago. When we married my husband said he wanted to marry me under his legal name in case there was ever a question about legality of our union. At the time I just thought he went by his middle name-after our marriage I found out about the ss#'s and birth dates. He claims he took his dead brother's name years ago because of covert government work. He has since gone back to his birth name and a bogus date of birth( he changed back 20yrs ago)-the identity he uses now. He says the name he married me under is legal name(was brother's), his real date of birth-however it's not identity he uses now. He married his ex wife under different identity than he married me under. Husband's sister says they never had a brother. Where do I legally stand? I'm confused.
