Income Tax Rights

Hello, I'm new to this forum so I hope you all will be patient with me. My ex and I were divorced in Oklahoma and I have a question that I hope someone can help me with. In my divorce paper is says this: "Plaintiff, (which would be my ex-husband, because he divorced me.) shall have the right to the exemption on the child for federal and state income tax purposes." What exactly does that mean?

That means he can claim them as dependents on his return. You cannot.
