joint loan with exboyfriend

What is the name of your state? West Virginia

My exboyfriend and I took out a joint loan for my vehicle. The title is in his or my name. I have been the one making the payments on the loan. He wants me to refinance the loan in my name only, but at this time it is not feasible to do so. Can he take the vehicle from me or have it repossessed as he put it?

A: If you are asking if a person whose name is on the title to the vehicle he is driving can drive a vehicle when his name is on the title, then the answer is...wait a minute. My cell phone is ringing. I'll get back to you.

State of West Virginia.

He does not drive the vehicle. The vehicle has been in my possession since it was purchased. The loan is in both our names and the title is in his or my name. The insurance on the vehicle is in my name. My question is, can he have the vehicle taken away from me if I am unable to refinance it at this time. The payments on it are current and I have made all the payments myself.

A: Yes. He can come over there tonite and "take" it; he's on the title!

Alright the title is listed in his or my name. Can I have his name removed from the title without his consent?

A: No, you must have his signature to sell or borrow money on the car.

Does is say "John Doe and Susi Roe" or "John Doe or Susi Roe"? Some states would allow you alone to sell it (maybe) if it has "John Doe or Susi Roe." Call your licensing authority in your state capital and ask them if that would work.
