just wondering

What is the name of your state? Louisiana


I was wondering if anyone knew about the common law for marriage is in this state? I was wondering how long you had to live with someone before it was considered common law marriage. Also, when does it start when you live together in your own house or whether it was with parents & then got your own place? Here's the deal, my boyfriend & I have been dating for almost 5 1/2 yrs. We have lived with his parents & mine for 2 years before we got a place together & we have 2 children together. We are getting married in March 2003, but I was just wondering about the common law marriage. Please help!!!!

You're just shacking up until the big day--Louisiana does not recognize the creation of common law marriage.

I don't believe Louisiana recognizes common law marriages.
