Laws about the act of getting married

I'm currently deployed overseas. Can myself and my fiancee get married, without me being there?? Its something that needs to be done really soon, and we won't have another opportunity until September, which is too late. If this is possible, could you tell me what we need to do, and what paperwork needs to be submitted. Thanks in advance

No.

Though I'm dying to know how it can be 'too late'...

I'm curious to know. Although, I'm pretty sure of the answer already. I'm a mind-reader.

Well, there's a problem here, buddy. You didn't give a state -- that's because you're deployed overseas -- but your fiance is in the USA? Give her state, and maybe/possibly/snowball's chance someone could find you a law.

Good luck to you, and God bless you for serving our country. I send you my love and prayers.

Yes, there is, or used to be -- but I'd think we'd need his g/f's state, wouldn't we?

You're such a good researcher, though! I'm awaiting your reply...

Excellent, Fair!!!

But here's a sneaky little problem within the article, and we DO need the gf's state:
In addition to the application, Georgia also requires a blood test for both members,” Todd said. “My home office (the 347th Rescue Wing Staff Judge Advocate Office) assisted with research in this area for Andrea while our contracting and medical teams here drew James’ blood and arranged for the host nation to conduct the test.”

I am not sure how the state would enter into this, only 4 states actually allow the proxy marriage to be performed, but I couldn't find anything about them restricting people from being married BY proxy. I would print this out (the article) and take it to whoever might help in the military.

Yes, it says that the state requires a blood test, but does the blood test have to be done IN the state? Or do we just need to know WHAT the requirements are?

Georgia, which is where the couple in the article is from, requires the test.

But we don't know OP's state, dangit. I think we just need to know what his state requires!
