legal obligations of parent of 17 yr old that wants to move out

Oklahoma~My 17 year old son (will be 18 on March 12, 2001) is causing us so much grief. He wants to move out with a friend. Are we legally responsible for any accidents, crimes, etc. that he might cause before he turns 18?

I hope you mean 2002. It depends on if you negligently entrusted him with anything and whether he has violent tendencies that you know.

Yes, I meant 2002...duh me! I guess you can tell I was upset. He does not have violent tendacies, but I guess I'm a typical mother, just afraid period for him and what he might do by not considering the consequences. He has his own vehicle but does not want to work to help pay for his insurance (liability only of $153 a month because of accidents). His comment is "if I'm on my own, I'll pay for all that". But he still has two more years of high school starting with this school year. I'm afraid he won't finish school when he turns 18 even though he says he will, but his actions say differently. So I guess I'm wondering things like if he has an accident and no insurance am I, as his parent, still responsible for any of his stupid actions? Or if he's living with a friend and supposed to be paying his share of living expenses and does not, am I legally responsible for this? Like I said his actions now tell me, he won't behave any differently on his own compared to living at home for another 8 months. But these last 8 months will be pure he** on all us as a family, by the discord he causes.
