Legal rights on money concerns

What is the name of your state? Alabama

Background:
I am the sole caregiver and legal custodian of my mother. As a result of recent episode wherein she hurt herself, another realative came and got her while I was hospitalized. They now don't wish to let her return.

Problem:
I have a joint bank account with my mother. As legal custodian, I am responsible for paying her bills and so forth. The question I have is simple. If the party that is now watching her tries to use the money of this account, can I take legal action? Should I withdraw the funds?
