I live in Ft, Worth Texas, but my question is about Kansas law.
I was ordained online for the express purpose of officiating my sisters wedding. I have contacted the Kansas Vital Statistics Dept. but when I specified ORDAINED ONLINE, they were unsure how legal the marriage would be. There exact words were that the only problems they could forsee was if one of the two participants wanted to get out of the marriage. Well of course that isn't a problem I am concerned about. They love each other and can't wait to be married. But what if one of their ex spouses wanted to cause problems? I want to do this very much because it would mean so much to my sister, but not if there is even the slightest chance of ANYONE being able to disclaim the validity of the marriage.
I was assured that this was legal in all 50 states, before I became ordained. The copy of the law that was sent to me from the place online i became ordained and the Dept. of Vital statistics was: 23-104a
Chapter 23.--DOMESTIC RELATIONS
Article 1.--MARRIAGE
23-104a (b) The following are
authorized to be officiating
persons:
(1) Any currently
ordained clergyman or religious
authority of any religious
denomination or society;
Can I legally perform this wedding? |

**A: yes, if the state of Texas gives you approval in writing that you are an ordained minister. | |
