I reside in Nassau County, New York. My husband is relocating to a permanent position in Illinois paying $100,000+. What are my rights if I choose not to go? Is he required to support our children and myself? What constitutes support in a marriage? Can he sell the house our children and I currently live in if it's in his name only and purchased prior to our marriage? If I choose to go could a post-nuptial agreement protect me by contractually establishing my name on the mortgage, car titles, bank accounts, and health insurance, and require a definitive amount of support in Illinois until I find work, etc.? Thank you!
