Marriage and emancipation

What is the name of your state? Illinois

If one has parental consent to marry a minor and the marriage is performed, is an emancipation still required to consider that minor an "adult" in the eyes of the law? Also, if that is the case, is the likleyhood of that minor recieving the emancipation ruling from a judge more likley?

For a minor to get married, that minor must have parental concent from both of his/her parents, aswell as cencent from the other set of parents of the one they are marrying.

But my question is, your still a minor, why on earth would you want to get married? And if there is a child envolved, that's still no good reason to get married so young. I've known teens that have done that and they ended up breaking off the marriage less then a year.

I am not a minor. Simply curious as to whether or not a married minor would be considered an "adult" in the eyes of the law.

Wolfie, this is the guy that didn't want to tell anyone why they should get married. The minor would be OP's wife if the parents consented.

Deliberatly leaving out what could be vital details about your legal problem often results in advice that will not apply to you, but that's YOUR choice. If you don't want the correct legal advice for YOUR problem then maybe you should try another site where it's ok to lie just to get an answer that you will approve of instead of a truthful answer.

And would there be any requirements to have a judge make this decision? Any information even remotley related to our situation would be a big help. Thanks in advance to your response!
The above is from stealth2's link.

Stealthfire, if the father isn't going to give consent, then you'll have to wait. You being in love isn't going to be enough for a Judge to ride around that.

Where is her mom? If she is still alive then you would need her consent as well.

Seems to me you are fishing for an answer that will provide you a loophole around the law.

All that being said, it is a stupid idea! Only 16 f#@%&$ years old, Geesh!!
