Marriage License Question

An interesting scenario has erupted. My wife and got our marriage license in Mississippi. The license expires after 90 days. Our marriage was over 120 days later. We specifically asked about time constraints in that day and the minister who married us stated there were none.

Are we married? If so, does it date to that particular date?

(Note: MS does not have common law marriage).

Did the minister turn in the paperwork on the marriage?. Assuming that he/she did then yes, you are married. However, the marriage might be voidable if the license had expired.

Marriage License Question

Ok i need some help here, first let me explain my problem. I was married in the early Dec1991 (in Virginia) due to family issues i married the same woman again at the end of the same month but in a different state (SC). Well the first marriage was never divorced or terminated before the second on happen. So i have two marriage license in two different states to the same woman. Well here is my problem, i divorce that woman years later, but the only marriage date used on the divorce papers was the one in VA. So is the SC marriage still active or does that divorce cover both states even though the marriages happen on differnt days.

Please help.

Please copy and paste your question onto a new thread. When you post on someone else's thread its considered hijacking, and can cause neither of you to get good responses.

Yes, he did turn in the paperwork.

What do you mean it might be 'voidable?'

We're happy but shocked at finding out we might not have been married.

So you're saying we are?

Yes, I believe that you are married. The marriage is on record. However, it may be voidable (able to be ruled as not married). However, that would require a trip to court.
