Married or Not

What is the name of your state? Florida

The man I am with was married about 10 years ago while enlisted in the military (in California). While enlisted, his wife (supposedly) filed for divorce while he was at sea. He never received paper work for the divorce. At this point he is not sure whether he is still married or divorced. How would he go about finding this information?

He needs to contact the courthouse in the county where he was residing when the ex filed. If they do not have a file for him then he needs to find her and get information as to where she filed - don't rely on her to send him paperwork, go to the court and get original copies from them.

If he can't locate her then he should file papers on his own (still having to attempt to find her and serve her). I'm not sure if the State you are in gives default judgements (for non-response), but I do not see why they wouldn't, since he has been seperated for a long time.

If he never was served or signed anything, he is still married. Have him locate and contact his wife to see about a divorce. If one was somehow granted, then he needs to know where and get a copy of the court file.

There are at least 17 lawsuits (!!) pending in various courts, including the US Supreme Court, asking if Obama is a natural born citizen (as req'd by Art II, Sec 1 of the US Constitution).

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

And, if he finds out that a divorce was never granted, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a credit report. This would be just to make sure she hasn't incurred any bad debt and affected him as her legal husband.
