Marrying an American Citizen

My name is Mercy from Illinois.I am an Immigrant with an F1(student) visa. My boyfriend is an American citizen and we plan to get married soon. Will it be neccesary for me to fill in the DS-156 form to apply for another visa? Which of these forms will my boyfriend have to fill 1-29F or I-130? My visa expires next year so I am still in good status. I would wish to file for work authorisation and permanent resident papers after the marriage.Where can I get the application papers and when should they be filed. Is it after the marriage or before? Who is responsible in changing my social security card, my visa and my names on my documents?
I would appreciate your help.
