help! my husband and I have 3 elderly parents in nursing homes.
1) all on medicaid and ssi for the assissted level of care in a nursing home. we are retired and can't pay all these bills for them. medicaid has paid them but the balance of what is owed is being billed to them. they have no money to pay them, all their money goes for care in the nursing home. is there a form letter I can send to these hospitals?
What can we do?
2) my husbands mothers house was transferred over to her two sons 5 years ago with the understanding thatshe has life use on the house. we have been trying to sell it and have had to pay taxes for her. the taxes are in her name. now the electric company has shut off the gas and electric due to past due bills. we can't afford to pay a 900. bill. are we responsible for payment of this? can we call them and tell them we want a new account set up in her sons names and then we can split the cost monthly, without an obligation to pay the current bill which is in her name?
we also have my father who has back medial bills, and also my mother. i am an only child. it is a nightmare for us as we are retired and can't pay these bills coming to our home. please give us some ideas. not sleeping at night!
