mentally ill mother

What is the name of your state? I live in Ohio but my mother lives in Michigan.
I was wondering how I would go about having my mother committed for mental evaluation? She has been ill all of my life, but here lately it has gotten extremely worse. She is attacking my wife and my child. We are expecting a child and have lost one already due to stress. Trying not to do the same now. We have stopped all contact with her, but she is finding ways to get a hold of us. I have called family members and even my grandmother. No one will help. My mother is a very sick person, who is refusing help. Is there anything I can do from this far away?

~~~If she refuses help...there's not much you can do. Change your phone number, and make sure it's unlisted. This way you won't have to worry about her attacking your wife and child?
Cheeka, how is she attacking your wife and child when you live so far away from her??
If it's the phone, change your number, and don't let anyone else in the family give her your number.
If she's coming there in person, have her arrested. If she's mentally incompetent, and a danger (physical danger) to herself or others, then she can be involuntarily admitted for observation, max of 72 hours. At that point a psychiatrist will decide if she needs further evaluation.
If all she's doing is calling and bothering your wife and child, then they should hang up the phone when she calls.
