Question

Mom deceased, need help with possesions etc

What is the name of your state? pennsylvania

ok first thing is first, my mom did not have a will. She became sick with brain and lung cancer in 2003, and she past on 9-19-2004. Her and my stepfather own a business and a house,at the time 3 cars, plus her jewelry ,and houseing possesions. Since her passing my stepfather sold one of the cars , and is going to sell the business, and is also trying to trade the one car in on a newer one.My mother had life insurance , but was about enough to cover the funeral cost with some left over.My stepfather knew my mom wanted us to have rings that were hers, however he will not give them to me or my sister. My younger brother is 14 and still lives with my stepdad.About a month before she died he got power of attorney over her,Cause she couldnt make decisions etc for herself. So heres my question , What can My sister and i do to get the rings my mom left for us? He has a new girlfriend and we know its only going to get worse now. My grandmother asked her attorney and she said he will get 1/3 and me ,sister and brother will get 2/3.... Is this right? how long do i have to act on this? Is this still in effect if he changed all the items into his name right after she died? PPPLLLLEEASE help before its to late or in fact to ease my mind!!!!!

You need an attorney. This is not a "do it yourself" project. However, unfortunately if she did not have a will...then anything that was jointly owned (including whatever is inside the house) automatically becomes your stepfather's sole property. Please do consult with an attorney however.
