My parents were married for 13 yrs and have been divorced for 25 yrs. My father has remarried (approx 17 yrs)and now retired, and my mother has not remarried. I saw something when looking in Social Security for a friend that my mother was entitled to social security benefits from his retirement. Is she also entitled to benefits from his pension when he was in the union? I'm in the same trade different union and he told me he didn't have any pension coming because he had left the union and maintenace costs ate it up. He was union before they were married and for a couple of years after their divorce. While they were married, he had his own business and she was the bookkeeper. I'm not sure how long the business lasted but i think it was 5 yrs. Presently she works sporadically because of illness. She is 62.He lives in fla.(divorce was there as well)She lives in Pa.
Any info greatly appreciated

Generally this would have been sorted in the divorce. If it was not, then she has no chance to get this money after 17 years..
