Please help!

I live in NJ and my father is in Maryland. He's been diagnosed with a Primary Brain tumor. His new wife (we're not sure when or if in fact they are legally married) does not want to share ANY information with us. When she does, it's all made-up.

My question is, how can I find out if they're "Legally Married"? I've tried to investigate for the license, and there is no court record of a marriage for them 10yrs to-date in their county or surrounding counties.. I need to ask her to "see" the marriage certificate, but how can I'd like to do it legally? I'd like to bring him up to NJ to insure he gets the proper care and don't know what my rights are.

Thanks in advance,
