Question

multiple family law issues

I live in California. My sister-in-law and her husband bought a homeapprox. one year ago. Her name was not on the title and it was her husband's intent to add her name to the title once her permanent residency was conceded. A year passed and although her residency was conceded, they just did not get around to adding her name. Unfortunately, my ssister-in-law discovered that her husband was molesting his step-daughter. She reported him to the police but he has not been found. She is still living in this house an although she is making the mortgage payments, she doesn't know how to go about making this house legally hers. Does she have any right to do this? Is there any help available to her being that she is not only a single-mother now but also, her husband is a petafile? She also suspects that her mother-in-law has been given power of attorney to have jurisdiction over any of his belongings and assets. Is there any existing law that would give my sister-in-law more right over her husbands property above her mother-in-law? Please advise...we don't even know if we have a case and wonder whther it should be taken immediately to a lawyer.
