My daughter is in danger, please help!

Ohio

My daughter is in a household where the step mother is verbally and physically abused. I was as well when I was married to her father. My daughter is in danger, yet the courts are telling us that unless he "harms" her, we can't change his visitation. He let her and her 8 yr old sister go to a park in Cleveland alone. My daughter is only 5. She was told that if someone bothers her, to just punch them. She was also involved in a motor vehicle accident and I was not notified until a week later. I have been threatened by my ex and his wife that they are going to "take her away" and my daughte is afraid to go there because they tell her this. I fear for her life and the emotional abuse that she is taking in that household is very damaging. Please help with some advice on how to get my daughter out of that home and into a safe one. With all the "accidents" that have happened to her over the course of a year, eventually one will not have a good outcome. I'm scared and need help. Thank you for reading.

Daughter in danger,

Has there been a custody action filed? Who told you that only actual harm would get custody changed? The standard is what is in the best interests of the child overall. If you have not filed for custody, you should find an attorney, and get a motion filed, as well as calling Child and Family Services, and having the household investigated. Please e-mail if further advice is needed.
