| State of Indiana: My friend is a divorced, one parent mother of a small child. She was abused terribly by her father when she was young. She hasn't spoken to him in years. When her father's mother died, my friend had seen her Grandmothers will right before, within hours of her grandmothers death. She willed my friend her house and a CD for 6000.00.After the death of her grandmother, her father did a quick claim deed on the house and put it in his present wife's name. He also cashed the CD somehow, gave my friend $1000.00 and told her that was all there was. Now the bank is saying that my friend has to pay taxes on the $6000.00. The lawyer who drew up the will has died, and we can't seem to find out what lawyer took the records. What can if anything can my friend do? This is a real story, but I might add, that my friends father, is currently serving as an assistant minister, and was at the time he did all this illeagal stuff. Has she got any options? She can't afford an attorney unless she is pretty sure of winning the case. How can she find the documents? |
