My new home

My boyfriend and I moved into a new house in September. The rent is $1200 and both of our names are on the lease. Now my boyfriend decides that he wants to go back to his previous home. Is he obligated to pay his half of the rent since his name is on the lease?

If he has given notice to the leasing office that he's no longer living there, his name would have been taken off the lease.

My new home

Hi I live In Pennsylvania. He has not let anyone know except for me. He has not let my landlord know either. I wonder if the lease can be used as a legal document to make him pay for his half of the rent for the rest of the year which at that time the lease will be up.

IF the landlord changes the lease, taking him off, he/she has effectively altered the lease. It is no longer valid and you should give notice.

Your boyfriend is still on the lease until you agree to release him or until you sign a new lease.
