Name change

I am from the state of Arkansas, and I know that in some circumstances you do not have to go through the courts for a name change. I want to change my middle name, which is now just an initial on my birth certficate. Does anyone know the procedure to make this change?

You are correct.

But whoever told you that forgot to add, "Although such a name change does not have to be recognized by the government."

Google

arkansas name change

and you will have enough info to last you a long time.

Thanks, judge, appreciate the info. I think to be on the safe side, I will go through the courts. By the way, I found that info on the Arkansas Department of Health Vital Records Section web site.
