Name ChangeSon was born in Illinois. Bio-Mom and Bio-Dad never married. In Illinois Dad established parentage and has visitation and pays child support (custody was never brought up in court, think that means Bio-Mom has sol custody not sure). After Bio-Mom marriage, son has started saying he has new last name. Bio-Mom now lives in Tennessee. Can Bio-Mom change Son's last name without informing or asking consent from Bio-Dad? Is that not a severe form of PAS ? |

| I would be surprised if any court would leagally change his name without consent of Bio-father. Sounds like Bio-father is a responsible, careing individual and his son will be proud to bear his name. This will take some time and patience on your part to explain and support this with your son. |

| Hi! I have just been through the courts asking if I can change my daughters last name without her fathers permission and the answer was NO. The court will not change the childs name without the fathers consent. |
