Name change, business implications

What is the name of your state? Maryland

My wife is a chiropractor, and we were recently married. She would like to keep her maiden name professionally (it is shorter and easier to spell than my name), but wants to take my last name as her legal name. If she hyphenates her last name can she use either name legally? Can she use her maiden name professionally if she takes my last name? We really need some help on this one, as her insurance companies and licensing are all looking for her information and we are unsure what to put.
