Question

Can anyone help, please

What is the name of your state? Southern New Jersey
Summary:
For the past 4 years I have been living with my boyfriend. A little over 2 years ago, we bought a house. The house is in his name only. (his parents wanted it that way because we were not yet married, and they were giving him the money for settlement.) A few days before settlement, we found out that we needed more money for settlement, because it was considered a duplex. So I took out a loan for $5000 dollars to pay the remaining settlement costs. (His parents are still unaware of my contribution). A little over 1 year ago, I had to file bankruptcy. Now, 2 years after we bought the house, he has decided to end our relationship. I have spent over $4000 dollars(in addition to the $5000 for settlement) on home improvements.
Question:
Is there anything I can do, legally, to recover this money? I have kept all receipts for the home improvements, and I also have the receipt for the loan, which states that I turned the money over to him.
P.S. I do realize how stupid it was to do these things, without being married.

You have nothing showing that he agreed to pay it back or anything like that. Have you figured what rent would have been for this time period plus utilities etc...

Chances are you aren't going to get anything.
