Need advice on my my farthers death and his life insurance


What is the name of your state? england

hi, my names Claire im from england and im 18 years old this is a long story so i will try to keep it short. My farther took his own life at the end of last year and never left a note or any reason that i know of why, they was no sign's or anything the same night he even rang me while i was comming home from a night out to make sure i was in safe and well and he seemed fine. he had life insurance but i do not know what kind he had but i know he has had it for years. so a week after the funeral my step mother started going out with a man and he moved in like a month after, i have been told by her that she has not resived any payment from the life insurance and just had just payed off the house, now she is selling up the house and is buying a new house with her new husband to be..... what i would like some advice on is there any way i can find out that what has happened with the insurance these somthing that just dosnt feel right on how she had nothing but has just booked another holiday and is getting married, i am not bothered about the money its the case of being lied too. have i got any rights at all?

First of all, I am so sorry for your loss!!!

Please understand that this forum/site pertains only to US law ... was your father, by any chance, an American citizen living in the US?

Also, here in the US, usually, death by suicide nulls any insurance policy ... I'm not sure if that's how it is in the UK, though. A quick, quick search on Google implies that that's the case in the UK as well ...

Again, I'm really sorry about your loss ... but I think you need to see a solicitor with your concerns!

The bolded statement above is incorrect. I've had policies that covered suicide after a 2 year exclusion.
