need help on father passing.

What is the name of your state? Mo. i was wondering about a situation about my father. i have been without a dad all of my life. i have never talked to him and i have never seen him. i was in a gold exchange last week and i ran into a woman that thought that she recognized me. after we talked for about 30 min. we had come to the concluseion that she was my cousin. i have never meet anyone from my father's side of the family. she had told me that he has passed away about 7 years ago. i have alot of unanswered question's. i think that i am intitled to something from him, but i dont have any idea what i need to do to find out. I am the only child that he had had. he was remarried to a lady and the next question that i have is; do i have any legal right over her on any estate that he may have had? what do i do if there was no will? where would i go to find out the information on this matter? if i am intitled to some part of it , is there a limitation on the claim?
