Not My Bill

What is the name of your state? Iowa

I let my boyfriend move into my house that I own.. he set up his office in my computer room, and after a couple of days he felt like he was taking up to much of my room. So he asked me if he could turn my shed outside into an office for himself. (he runs his own business)
Well we ended up breaking up and he moved out. All the materials he used in this shed he picked up and I NEVER SIGNED FOR... And now I am getting bills in the mail from these companys saying I owe this money. I never signed anything saying that I was held responsible for these bills or anything, so rightfully do I have to pay them? It's not my fault it didn't work out and it was his idea to redo the shed...
PLease let me know what you think i should do.
Thank you

The bills came to me in my name at my address.. Which means he told them to send it there... Though I never have been to this company ever for anything. So they don't know for sure what is going on....
Also..... I have nothing signed... There NEVER was anything signed.. No estimates at all.. he just went and charged the stuff and started doing work on it... I wasn't even there most of the time.. I was at work.
I never even got the first bill from this company that says what everything is that was bought and how much it was.. I just got a bill saying balance forward, 30 days past due. which means the first bill went to him and then he in turn told them to send it to me.

Just write them a letter telling them that you never ordered or purchased any material from them. However, its possible that they may attempt to put a contractor's lien on your home. How much money is involved?
