not sure this is proper cat., but I need help

What is the name of your state? Florida. I am in middle of child support modification for 3 kids I am non custodial parent (one is 16, dting with cystic fibrosis) but thats another issue I have addressed in another forum. The problem I need to address here is my current hsuband, He needs mental health help bad, beleive he is schizoprenic etc. Real bizairre bahavior sometimes. He has been to shrink, btu funny thing he can almsot act normal there. was put on meds for depression. He is real messed up, needs help. He is NOT suicidal or homocidal tho. So Can I take him to a hospital for temp committment so they can observe him 24/7 for a week or so so he can get proper treatment. He behaves normal at drr. thats what is wierd. He needs help so bad, but he don't see it. His hygiene suffers (dont think hes had bath this week) he is delusional, religious pre occupations, cant/wont work. quit school mentally as if 9 or 10 years old. What do i do

I am not certain but if he would be known to be harmful to himself or others, which I know you stated he was not, then he could be held for 72 hours and evaluated under the Baker Act.

I know this is not a familiar subject but I sure wish someone would help me out with aadvice on this... the man is a mental cripple. I love him and he needs help bad. What will happen when I am gone an theres no one to care for him, I have to get him help while I am still around. I have no clue what to do. Whats bad, is he i sbad off but not suicidal or homocidal, so it seems I cant get him help thru Bakeer Act?

The only thing that you can do is to talk to the Dr. that prescribed his antidepressants. Although the Dr, cannot legally discuss anything WITH you, there isn't any law that prevents a Dr. from LISTENING to a patient's spouse.

You could Baker Act him, but it's kind of tricky because not only do you need to call 911 at the time of the behavior, you will need some kind of physical proof of the behavior. For instance, if he were to get upset and throw something across the room, and you have to broken object with the mark or break in the wall where it landed, you would probably be sucessful in getting him Baker Acted.

You can also check with your local mental health center to see if they have any suggestions.
Good luck, and don't give up on him.
