What is the name of your state? Georgia

In the state of Georgia, if a child is left with a relative, without parnent contact, how long does that have to go on before the child can be consider abandoned?

In searching for GA information I came across this on a website that belongs to a GA attorney
Quote:
The general rule is that if the non-custodial parent has not paid any child support OR communicated with the child for more than ONE YEAR, then the adoption may proceed over his or her objections
The attorney is Jerry Sanders in Columbus, GA -- perhaps you should contact him and ask about your specific situation.....this information was in relation to a step-parent or other relative seeking to adopt a child and what it took for that child to be considered "abandoned" so that the adoption could take place. Here is the link to the website Jerry Sanders
