partner legal rights


california - I am in a hetrosexual live-in relationship in the state of California. what legal doucuments can be drawn to give my partner and i both rights such as; voice in medical decisions and property rights to one another?

Is there some reason why you don't just get married? That would seem to be the simplest solution.

Maybe some people don't care to get married. Maybe some people don't want the hassle. Maybe some people think it's just a piece of paper that costs a real lot of money to get rid of.

Yes, but it sounds as though you are looking for the legal protections that piece of paper provides you.

If you wish to treat your relationship as a business partnership and each protect you shared assets, have an attorney advise on joint ownership of any shared assets, or some type of contractual arrangement for the splitting of thse assets based upon whatever criteria you both wish to agree about. But that still creates a legal relationship that one would have to disolve if you were to split up.

Sounds as though you need an attorney.
