Question

pastoral counseling

michigan...the pastor of the church has told us we have to go to counseling with him 2 hours a week for 4 weeks which would bring us up to the week of the wedding. My 2 questions are: is he legally allowed to make us go to counseling, and if he finds we are incompatible, and says he cannot marry us, can he be held financially responsible for the cancellation of the wedding?

**A: no, he and the church have no legal jurisdiction over you and yours. It is your choice to follow his rules or seek another church of the same or different denomination.

**A: of course not because you have many other choices.

Why do you waste your time with a church anyway?

oh well maybe someday you will grow up and realize

YOU ARE NOT COMPATABLE WITH THE CHURCH.

dump the LOSER church!
My response: happyroach, this is your final warning. If I see another one of your idiotic posts like this again, I will see to it that you and all your future user name aliases are banned from this website. It is bad enough to read your pathetic ignorant remarks on the Landlord/Tenant Law board but lately you have infiltrated the other boards as well.

cjt877:

There is no "law" that would require you to go to the church's counseling sessions.

The church itself might have those rules, but the state doesn't have laws regulating what folks do in church.

Hope this helps answer your question.

If you do not agree with the church's requirements, you can go to a different church -- or none at all -- to be married.

Good luck to you!

OK its a radical idea**************

Telling a church and a pastor..you're a LOSER!!!

But considering how stupid this situation is, what other answer is there?

A pastor possibly finding you incompatable and wont perfom the cermony when the wedding is that week ....gimme a break!
