We live in Ohio, and desperately need advice-I will be as brief as possible, while still including the information needed.
After reading about prior probabilities and paternity calculations, -we are even more convinced that we have a huge problem.
My fiance had a dna test done through the local child support agency, which assigned a prior probability of 0.5 based upon the mothers statement that she had been with no one else. That however was untrue, as there were at least 2 other men with whom she had relations at the time of conception.
Now that we know how important the prior probability is to the outcome of the test, we are wondering, if he has a right
to be re-tested without the prior, or if the other possible fathers can be made to take a test also.
Many geneticists that we have spoken with via e-mail believe that there is a very good chance that he is not the father after looking at the results, and considering the false prior probability.
Can anyone please help? This is what the test looked like-notice there is an exclusion for D7S820, and the mothers numbers are not even listed on 3 of those tested.
Without prior probability added, what would the probability of paternity be?
Many thanks
