Phone charges

i am from kentucky. in kentucky a child the age of 14 can begin to work with the parents written consent. my child who is 15 was working with my permission for a friend and was using thier phone to make 1-900 phone calls (very ebarassing) i am sure he got the numbers from the owners child who is 13 and never supervised. the phone bill at the business was astronomical, around $1500.00. this was spread over a few months. the problem was that the adults in this business did not supervise the workers at all. sometimes leaving them (kids) by themselves. i repeatedly warned the owner that the workers needed more supervision, and was assured that it was going to change. it did not . what legal avenue do I have if the owner decides to sue for the money? what legal avenue does the owner of the business have? since the charges were incurred, the phone has been disconnected due to non-payment of bills that have nothing to do with these charges, but the owner has mentioned the incident to me as if the current bill and her non-payment of the current bill has something to do with the previous bill. help.

Every person and business is resposible for their own phone and what calls are made from it. She can hint all she wants but she doesn't have a leg to stand on as far as taking you to court for it. She would have to be able to prove that the calls were from your son and not another person.

She could of easily had the 900 and 979 number blocked from her phone and she did not do that. She probably still could be forgiven for those debts (my child did the same thing once) and they will block it for her.

thank you for your reply. as i said some of the calls were made when he was the only one in the store due to the lack of supervision, so it most likely had to be him. i think the lack of supervision was just asking for trouble, but that does not excuse my son from what he did. i want him to know and have made it clear that he is to pay her for the calls that i know he made due to him admitting it to me, and that there are consequences for his actions. i do not believe that he made all of the calls, because of the lack of supervision with the owners children, which is where i believe he got the 900 numbers and the idea to call them. i intend for him to pay for the calls he made but am unsure if he made them all and am trying to avoid a lawsuit.

What phone co. do y'all have? I'm just wondering because I have Sprint. If you fail to pay for 900 or long distance calls with them, they can't disconnect your LOCAL service. Might want to check into that.

The phone had been cut off because of non 900 number charges that were due after all this happened. They are in the process of trying to get the 900 charges off of the bill.
