Pre-marital contract helpIm in Maryland and soon to be married. I am going into the marriage with ~$100,000 dollars worth of stocks, bonds, and mutal funds and a car. Should anything happen would my wife be entitled to any of this property at the time of divorce and is she legally entitled to any of the interest generated by stocks, bonds, and mutual funds? Is there a way to form a legally bonding contract(pre-nup) that would be admissable in divorce court without consulting an attorney? Ill be attending med school in the fall and simply can't afford the fees associated with an attorney. At the same time, I can't afford to give away money and property that I accumulated, should my wife and I become separated. Any and all advice is welcomed. |

Not a lawyer butSince you are looking for a response here goes... If you have 100K in stocks, bonds, and mutual funds, you have the money for a few thousnand dollars MAX to have a legal document drawn up... However, you may want to run this past the fiance first...she may get pissed off and call off the wedding...then you wont need to spend the money on an attorney to draw up the docs. ![]() |
