I have been divorced for 3 years. I called regarding a withdrawal from my profit sharing account, and was informed that the account was frozen for changes based on a letter they received from my wife's attorney almost 4 years ago.

Do I have to hire an attorney to get this released?

Isn't there a statute of limitations as to how long the attorney's letter is good for, particularly after a divorce is final?

What do I have to do to get this released?

Hire an attorney. Or get your divorce attorney to get the assets unfrozen. Depending on your final divorce decree, it should be a minor matter.
