Restraining Order Served Against Me

What is the name of your state? Arizona

My ex-finance had a restraining order served against me and I don't know why. I had tried to contact her at work 3 times. 2 of those times I talked to her and once I left a message. She never told me not to talk to her anymore in either of those phone calls. I also left a note on her truck door to please meet with me. She never met with me. After this I stopped communicating. I was only trying to talk with her so we can settle a few financial matters.

When the man came to serve me I was upset and shut the door on him. Did I get served? Can I fight this R/O? How do I get copies of the paperwork if I did get served properly?

How will this R/O effect me if I have to take her to court to settle the financial matters? The financial matters has to do with an engagement ring she never returned and some money for her portion of the lease. This is probably fairly common. What do I have to do?

Why close the door on being served something you had no idea was comming? Leave her alone and take up the financial matters in small claims. If you have a RO they will protect her while in court.

In fact, you are so astonishingly correct in this matter, it will not surprise us one bit if you are offered a generous settlement, because, by golly, that’s just how it should be.

I threatned that I might get one against her - because I felt threatened. I also told her that I might have to take her to court for the unsettled financial concerns. That's why I knew what it was.

Did you make those attempts to communicate with your ex after being served?

Bull,

Again, she will be protected from you when you take her to court, because of the RO.

Do you mean she will be literally protected or that I now have no case against her in court?

That is the truth. That is why I guessed it was an R/O.

No. I did this before hand. Was I even actually served. I don't even know if it really was an R/O, but that is my guess. I threatened her with one - so I believe she beat me to the punch. I just didn't have the balls to get one - I thought it was to extreme.

Oh good grief. You decide to change your user name cjkeeme for some reason? Didn't like the advice on that thread? At least you didn't leave the letter in the foyer. You were warned on that thread that she could possibly get a restraining order against you.
As for your questions:
Quote:
When the man came to serve me I was upset and shut the door on him. Did I get served?
Yep you were served.

You can try but if you caused her to fear for her safety -- which stalking does by the way -- then you are guilty and will lose. You can get copies of the paperwork by contacting the courts.

It will not have much effect on the charges of the RO except it may look as though you are being spiteful. And basically a continuation of your stalking. Leaving a note on her truck? Calling her at work a few times?

You have to face the fact that you will get the engagement ring back (not the money you paid for it but the ring itself most probably) but you will not get her to pay the rent on the one bedroom apartment because she has decided she doesn't want to sleep with you anymore. Move on from this and learn. Leave her alone. Quit harrassing her and realize that at the R/O hearing you will be able to make arrangements so she can get the rest of her stuff out of the apartment and you can even argue about the couch that you said is in your name and make the court aware that that is your property. At that hearing she can even return the engagement ring to you because she probably doesn't want a ring that a stalker gave her anyway. Okay?
