return of hunting guns

What is the name of your state? Colorado

Our son's estranged wife recently had police remove my husband's and son's hunting rifle and shotguns from our son's home. They were taken into police custody under her name. We have been told that to have them returned to rightful ownership, photos of them over the years with those guns aren't enough and they will need serial numbers. Both guns have been owned by the family for 30 or more years and have never needed any kind of registration or proof of ownership. Is there any other means of showing proof of ownership for these guns? The shotgun was willed to my husband by his father and is listed in a will, but there is no serial number included with that. The rifle was purchased by my husband in 1962. What recommendations would you have for recovering these guns?

I'd think the first question would be why those guns were removed.

hunting guns

Colorado

The guns had not been used for even hunting for the past three years and although they had never been used as a threat, the wife asked that they be removed by the police.

"What recommendations would you have for recovering these guns?"
*** Lets see.... where to start??
Have you asked for them???
If you have and your request was denied, then you are going to need to talk with a local attorney who can file a request for their return with the court.

And just another reason why "Gee, I don't have the serial number of that gun" is a poor excuse. You should ALWAYS keep the serial numbers of weapons (and any other 'serialed' item) somewhere for insurance purposes or simply to be able to report them to the police if the items are stolen.

There are at least 17 lawsuits (!!) filed in various courts, including the US Supreme Court, asking if Obama is a natural born citizen (as req'd by Art II, Sec 1 of the US Constitution).

Why has he spent over $1.7M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

Well, maybe I asked the question the wrong way. There must be more behind the removal of the guns. What is it? Were there ANY threats made - even if the guns weren't mentioned? Is there a restraining order?
