Hi.I couldn't find an educational forum,so I decided to try this one.
My 8 year old son is autistic. We absolutely disagree with his placement.I made that known at the last IEP meeting.I've reschedulude another one, but the special ed.directors condescending attitude on the phone makes me know that she still won't place him elsewhere.
I'm fed up and I want to take him out and home-school him for the rest of the school year.I need to know how to go about this.I want to know what my rights are so they can't intimidateme..Please Help ASAP! Thank

you, Chris

I live in Illinois-cook county

Here is a link that will give you alot of information regarding home schooling. Not sure about Illinois laws, but TX is very specific in that home schooling is unregulated as it is considered private school so the home schoolers are covered. I myself am preparing to do just that with my 8 yr old and 16 yr old. As they are getting lost in the system and I know they are smart and can do the work, their brains are dying of boredom.

Here is a link of groups for homeschoolers in Il.

Another link that is very informative and relates to the politicial movement for and against home schooling:

And finally, the laws regarding HomeSchooling in Illinois:
