rights and obligations to my child

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? N.Y.

Hi I would like some advice, I have a small child from a relationship where I lived with the childs mother for four years. Now, no longer being with her I would like to know what my rights and obligations are. I also have two children from a previous marriage. Thank You M.M.1

Legal or moral obligations? There are differences you know.....lol
Legally you are obligated to support your child financially (although w/out an order in place you can sluff that if you want to for now ). Morally I would say you are obligated to be not only a source of financial support but also of emotional support and parental influence!
As far as rights -- you have full parental rights but you will have to make them yours by filing in court for joint legal custody (gives you a "foot in the door" regarding decisions made about the child) and visitation rights (or physical custody if that is what you would like to have!).
