Ripped off

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Utah

My girl friend who lives with me has stolen a check book of mine and been writing checks for cash at a local bar. She is forging my signature and telling the owner that I said its okay. I've caught her doing this before and told her the next time she did something like this I would press charges. Well she did it again. What are my rights?

So what happened when you called the police to report this crime?

If you have permitted her to write checks, and it appears that you have since you have already forgiven her at least once, do not look for reimbursement from your bank.

You are not exercising care when it comes to your account. Be careful, the bank may just ask you to close your account. You could be too great a liability to keep as a customer.

You should have filed a police report the first time and secured your financial instruments.

ripped off

This just happened over last weekend and I just found out yesterday. I have never permitted her to forge my name or withdraw from my account.
I have not contacted the police as of yet becauce I am waiting for copies of the checks. My question is, what are my rights.

You have the right to file a police report and the right to file a check fraud claim with your bank.

Yes, your question is understood.

But this may be a problem for you because it shows you have in fact permitted her to do so (by not reporting it the first time it happened).
