Roommate threatening to take my property

It is time for my roommate and boyfriend of 2 years to go. I asked him to leave the home that I own and he refuses without me giving him property I have purchased since he has lived there. He has worked some of the time he has lived with me but for months at a time he has been out of work. At this time he has been unemployed since August of 2001. He has contributed to household expensed when he is working but I want to know if he is entitled to take a stereo, riding lawn mower, etc. which I have purchased since he moved in.

If he was not your husband, you purchased the items with your own money and you did not give them to him as gifts, he has no right to claim any of them.

What he paid in living expenses does not entitle him to any of your property. It was what he paid for the privilege of living with you in your home.

If he won't go willingly, get a restraining order to have him barred from the home.

Once he is presented with that, if he won't leave, then you can have the police escort him out.
