your post doesn't make sense. If she is a runaway then the police would have taken her into custody or placed her with child services until her parents could be notified and pick her up.

Does she want to come stay with you? Why did the juvenille authorities send her to friends?

more info please.

This is like pulling teeth....

O.K. what juvenille authorities? Was it juvenille court or just the police? How long has she been with "Friends"?

Please explain the entire situation because no one here can give you any advice, including good advice, without knowing the entire story.

How old is she? Do you have the money to hire an attorney?

If she is old enough (16 or older) then she can petition the court for emancipation and live anywhere she wishes. If she is younger you can petition the court for custody.

It's not going to be easy but if you want the responsibility it has to be done. I would at the minimum speak with a family law attorney asap so that the family doesn't try making trouble for you.

Emancipation is NOT that easy! She will have to prove that she is completely self-supporting, including rent (on a place of her own, not with friends, family or roommates), utilities, food, insurance, transportation, etc.
