School records

I live in Alaska and my ex boyfriend has recently file for full custody of our two children, who stays with him during the week and are with me on the weekends (not by my choice), anyway I answered his complaint with a motion to share both physical and leagle custody and that's how far we are at this time, my question is when he registered our son for school he neglected to put me down anywhere on his records, which means I have know right to visit him at school pick him up or anything to them I am a nobody seeing that custody has not yet been determined what can I do to put myself on his records? They told me they need his dads permission to do that just because he was the on who enrolled him, is this true?

I don't think that custody has anything to do with it. Unless there is a Court Order barring you from the school and medical records, you have every right to see them. You'll need to go to www.deltabravo.net There is a sample letter that you can use to send to the Superintendent. Search for "Access to School Records." We've used that sample letter, and it works.

Follow the instructions at that site. It will tell you everything you need to do. It won't allow you to pick up your child, but at least you will let them know that you are the mother and that you expect to be kept abreast of your child's academic performance. When you go to Court, address the issue of being on the school records and being listed as an "emergency contact". Also, request that you be allowed to visit or pick your child up from school. Give a copy of whatever you send to your lawyer who's handling your case. Better yet, why isn't your attorney taking care of this for you?

The reason my attorney isn't handeeeling this for me is because I don't have one, I am doing all this on my own as complicating as it all is. I do appreciate your help though. Thank you.

GET AN ATTORNEY NOW! Nothing can be more important to you than custody of your children, so use whatever means you have to engage a family law attorney right away. He has no right to usurp custody of your children without a court order.
